Chinese New Year, Madrid.

In the Madrid neighborhood of Usera, Chinese New Year is celebrated every year with a multitude of activities for all ages. Not only does the Chinese community in the capital participate—mostly concentrated in this neighborhood—but also the many other cultures living in Usera, from Spaniards to Ecuadorians. It is a true example of coexistence and multiculturalism.

In 2016 and 2017, I worked for the Madrid City Council covering this Chinese holiday, and here are some of the images I captured

In 2017, the Year of the Rooster, photojournalist Juan Carlos Toro carried out an artistic intervention in the streets of the Usera neighborhood, displaying five large-scale photographs on different buildings. These are portraits of local residents featuring the symbolic rooster, which formed the artistic project 'Portraits of Usera'.
